Visual communication a fast developing programme of high caliber is speeding up as one of the leading educational degrees in the new millennium . A new entrant to the Avinashilingam Deemed University , the programme in visual Communication has started the ball rolling with an academic rejuvenation relating to the theoretical domain. Apropos the practical domain, the infrastructure for the department of visual communication consists of an existing laboratory that has an audio editing component, a video editing component and a sound recording unit. The audio-visual laboratory has been active, recording and editing programmes for the various departments of the University. Programmes both large and small scale of varying length and characteristics have been meticulously recorded and edited with special effects. In keeping up the with the changing times the analog tapes have been converted to digital formats and stored in the audiovisual laboratory. The recorded programmes screened both in campus and out of campus have earned many laurels and merit to the institution. The University has deliberated to expand the audiovisual laboratory with state of the art infrastructure and epuip it with the latest camcorders and recorder of high sophistication. High-end gadgets like a multi channel audio mixer; non-linear editing unit with the latest soft ware and a digital sound recording system are the new contenders. Apart from this, the visual Communication Department has plans to go commercial and cater to the needs and wants of the public.
