Seminar

Regional Seminar on "Gearing Home Science Curriculum towards Better Perspective" was organized by Home Science Association of India, South Zone on 21st Aug. and 22nd Aug., 2009. The focus of the Seminar was to revamp the Curriculum in a manner that Home Science Graduates are absorbed in Institutions to have better placement and recognition. There is a great demand and need for Home Science Graduates in various fields such as Housekeeping managers, Dieteticians, Nutritionalists, Interior Decorators, Resource managers, HRD professionals, Fashion designers, Social workers, Teachers, Research Assistants, etc. 522 participants representing 4 States and 53 Colleges attended the Seminar. Dr. Chitra Prakash, Reader, Department of Resource Management, Avinashilingam University for Women, the Vice - President of the South Zone and Dr. A. Venmathi, Professor, Department of Resource Management, Avinashilingam University for Women,the Executive member of the South Zone.

o       World Habitat Day - Students Seminar on "Organic Architecture and “Responsive and Interactive Architecture" by Mrs.Anita Venkatesh and Ms. B. Janani of II M.Sc. Interior Design and Resource Management on 8th October, 2009.

Workshop:    A workshop on "Knowledge Enrichment Programme for College Students on CAD Software"is organized for IIIrd year Interior Design students with the help of CADD Centre, Crosscut road, Coimbatore on 11th Jan.2010.

 Special Meetings

·        A Guest Lecture on "Planning Landscape Garden" was conducted on 16th July, 2009 by Dr. Ganga,  Department of Horticulture, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore.

·        A Demonstration on "Different Types of Embroidery"was conducted on 29th Sep.2009, by Mrs. Vijayalakshmi, an N.G.O., Coimbatore.

An International Symposium on “Reducing Carbon Foot Prints and Global Warming - A Health Perspective" was conducted on 23rd Dec.2009, by Dr. Indu Gopal, Assistant Professor, Department of Health and Human Performance, Johnson C. Smith University, Charlottee, N.C.,U.S.A
