Biotechnology is an area with very strong potential in national advancement and economic improvement. It is a subject that has been identified by the Government of India and the UGC as one that has to be concentrated on to fully utilize and exploit the potential lying in the vast biodiversity that remains under-explored in our country. The M.Sc. course in Biotechnology involves theoretical and practical training in the field of Biotechnology. The programme also includes research projects (dissertations) carried out by the students, under the supervision of a chosen faculty member, the findings of which would then be published in reputed journals for the benefit of the scientific community.
Special Feature of the Course
As part of the curriculum, the students undertake on- the-job training in very reputed research institutions and industries involved in biotechnological processes. this training is undertaken for a minimum period of 30 days during the summer between the first and second year of the course. This feature of the course enables the students to gain hands-on experience and insight into the research activities in internationally renowned research institutions/industries
