The Department of Computer Science of Avinashilingam University was established in 1988 with B.Sc. Computer Science. Later Post Graduate courses M.Sc and M.C.A are offered since 1991, research programs M.Phil and Ph.D since 1997 and  add on course from 2004. It takes the pride of being one of the pioneers in Coimbatore in offering post graduate programs in the field of IT. The University is well known for its discipline, qualified and experienced faculty members and labs equipped with latest software and hardware in a networking environment. There is a separate browsing centre available for Internet access. Most of our alumni hold very high positions in National and International Organizations.

       The major objective of the three year Master's Degree in Computer Applications (MCA) is to offer the graduates in Engineering, Arts, Sciences and Commerce, an opportunity to learn the latest trends in the IT field on par with industry requirements to meet the global demands.  The course thrust is on giving the students a through and sound background in theoretical and application - oriented areas relevant to the latest computer software development.
