Language is a medium of communication. Every language has two important aspects-theoretical and structural aspects and the other, the applied and functional. Like all sciences today, in the field of language too, the applied and functional aspect is gaining momentum. Hindi is not an exception.

Today, in the study of Hindi, the major emphasis has been shifted from literature to language, as a medium of communication. Accordingly the stress is more on the functional efficiency and applied aspect of Hindi, translation, creative writing and communicative competence.
