Campus Network

The central Switch is located at the Computer Centre. The Central servers namely Web Server, Mail Server, Proxy Server are co-located with the Central Switch. The Campus Wide Network of the University offers facilities like Internet access    through 2 mbps bandwidth connectivity, resource sharing, E-journal access provided by ERNET.

Office Automation an intranet application to computerize and automate the activities of the Administrative Sections of the University is being executed with a grant worth of Rs.25 lakhs sanctioned by UGC. In respect of this, an application is developed in Lotus Notes/Domino to interconnect various departments in Administrative Section such as Finance Office, Controllers Office and Administrative Office. Training programmes on Lotus Notes, Tally, MS OFFICE were offered to the staff in the concerned sections. This application takes care of Student admission, Enrollment, CoE related activities, fee collection, pay bills, leave details for both Teaching and Non Teaching staff.

The Examination unit of Controller of Examination Section was sanctioned Rs.22 lakhs towards computerization and networking of the examination Unit, and implemented in the year 2003.

Internet

 

The Internet facility was introduced in the University in the year 1996, with 128 Kbps ISDN line funded by USIS, University of Illinois, USA. Subsequently, the University went in for a 64 Kbps leased line facility in the year 2000 supported by the ATM Campus network. The University is now equipped with 2 Mbps  bandwidth for the applications like Internet access, E-learning and Video Conferencing. 

Maintenance Cell

The University maintenance cell was introduced in the University from 2003 April onwards. The Maintenance Cell supports one Network Administrator and four Service Engineers to maintain and service 50 Servers, 800 Personal Computers, 50 Laptops, Firewall, Printers and Scanners. In addition to this, the Campus Network infrastructure is also being maintained by the technical experts.

The University Website www.avinuty.ac.in is designed  and maintained by the University Computer Centre. The entire University information details are updated in the Website regularly.

Training Programmes

Training programmes to the Teaching and Non-teaching staff is conducted periodically to impart knowledge on the recent software related to their discipline. Intensive Training on Internet is also provided to the Faculty. Short-term courses that cater to the industry requirements are organized for the welfare of the students.

Learning Management System

 

The E-learning center, established in the month of December 2006 has been sanctioned Rs.32 lakhs by the UGC. The e-content for 35 subjects under different faculties is been developed by the eminent lecturers of the university. The e-content is made available to students anytime, anywhere within the campus. The e-learning provided to students comes as supplementary form of learning. In this regard the e-learning center in the computer center hosts powerful Itanium servers, SAN storage to support the e-learning process. The e- learning software has several features in which the students have facilities like chat, discussion forum, tests, mailing and reports.

  E-SMART cAMPUS

  • The University  Campus  is equipped with Biometric Attendance system for the staff members . The staff  registers his/her   attendance by registering their  fingerprint and of using the smart cards . The smart card given to the staff serves as a identity card also.

  • The University is on the next move (i.e) providing smart cards to students with which she may remit the fees ,thus making cashless transactions. 

  • The auditorium is equipped with a high speed dome camera  that makes almost 360 degree coverage and that enhances the video streaming by which simultaneous viewing of the programmes  from within the campus  is made possible. 

  • KIOSK - The  highly engaging ,interactive interface that presents web-based  information in a stand-alone self service device is equipped with touch screen monitor is placed at entrance of the campus. This Kiosk  hosts several  information and details relating  to students and that of University The information can be viewed by the  touch of the screen.

  •  E-Smart  room  for each faculty (five faculty)   have been established with   the Laptop and Multimedia projector
